In the Spirit of Christmas

In the Spirit of Christmas

EBF press service - December 07, 2018

B r u s s e l s - In the spirit of Christmas, European church leaders are affirming the values of dignity, respect and compassion for refugees and migrants.

On the 4th of December a strong Christmas statement signed by church leaders from Europe and beyond was jointly issued by the Churches’ Commission for Migrants in Europe (CCME) and the Conference of European Churches (CEC) and was presented to Mairead McGuinness, First Vice-President of the European Parliament in Brussels.

As EBF leaders we want to strongly endorse this Statement from church leaders in Europe. Through our own EBF Refugee Working Group we try to support those member Unions and their churches who are working among refugees and migrants to give both practical and spiritual help, and to aid their integration into society. As followers of Jesus, we want to join with others in having a compassionate care and concern 'for the least of these’ in His name.

The Christmas statement is available in English, French, German and Russian.

Helle Liht, Assistant General Secretary
