National Day for Students with Learning Difficulties announced in Lebanon

The Lebanese Ministry of Education announced April 22nd as the National Day for Students with Learning Difficulties, an initiative led by Lebanese Society for Education and Social Development’s youngest ministry SKILD Center for Smart Kids with Individual Learning Differences in partnership with the British Council.

Moreover, the Lebanese Education Minister Dr. Hasan Diab noted at a press conference last week that even though Lebanon adopted and signed the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, still children with learning difficulties have yet to receive appropriate attention from the relevant government bodies. “Inclusion is a fundamental child’s right and its implementation is not impossible if properly planned for… The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is proud to launch the National Day for Students with Learning Difficulties in partnership with SKILD Center that is specialized in the provision of services and support for individuals with learning difficulties at the hands of a team of experts who work with students from different schools in Lebanon, and the British Council that is active in promoting integration in Lebanon.”

Lebanese Society for Education and Social Development is headed by Nabil Costa, a member of the European Baptist Federation Executive Committee and the Baptist World Alliance Vice President.
