New Directions for Conference of European Churches (CEC)

Based on the report by Keith G Jones - July 09, 2013

Over 450 Christians from throughout Europe gathered in Budapest in July for the 14th Assembly of the Conference of European Churches (CEC). The theme of the Assembly “What are you waiting for?” focused on the call of Christians to Mission. The theme was presented in worship, a special hymn and in the Assembly logo.

CEC was founded in 1959 and is a communion of 115 Orthodox, Protestant, Anglican and Old Catholic Churches from all European countries, and 40 associated organisations. This year's Assembly discussed among other issues structural changes of CEC, focusing on its key area of membership and creating a new form of membership for federations of churches (such as EBF). More information about the CEC and the 14th Assembly papers can be found at www.ceceurope.org

European Baptists were well represented. Report by Keith G Jones, the EBF Representative at the CEC Assembly can be accessed here.
