Pastor Daniel Machado, who was a former President of Portuguese Baptist Convention, has died on September 15, after a period of severe disease.

He is remembered by many as a person with a great heart for people, a good man, who have impacted many with his kindness and sympathy. He was married to Eunice Machado and they have had two sons, Jónatas and Emanuel and several grand children.

He was one of the sons of the couple Joaquim and Isménia Machado, founders of the Foundation Portuguese Evangélic Home (Fundação Lar Evangélico Português), children orphanage and old people’s home. Some years ago He has moved to the city of Maia/Porto, after his parents death, in order to serve as Director of this institution and as the spiritual leader of the 3rd Baptist Church in Porto.

Pastor Daniel was ordained as a pastor in 1959, lived almost his entire life serving the Baptist Denomination of Portugal, the Portuguese Baptist Convention. As a pastor he served several churches. As a leader he was called to be serving in many areas of ministry among the Portuguese Baptists.

Pastor Daniel and his wife Eunice studied at the Baptist International Theological Seminary in Rüschlikon, Switzerland. He was also a former Director and Professor of Old Testament of our Baptist Theological Seminary, in Queluz.

The funeral will take place this afternoon at Baptist Church Cedofeita, Porto. Many were blessed by his ministry. We are very thankful to our Lord for his extraordinary life and ministry. We praise our God for his legacy of faith.
