Peace for Israel-Palestine
Peace for Israel-Palestine
Nazareth Evangelical College launches new theological conference.
When 2,000 years ago a man asked “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?”, the answer was yes – the prince of peace.
Peace may not be the first word that springs to mind when you think of Israel-Palestine. But today, in the midst of great conflict, our partner in Nazareth is exploring what it looks like to be followers of the prince of peace – to be peacemakers – in times of unrest.
A saviour is born: Israel-Palestine
This coming April, the Nazareth Evangelical College is hosting a conference in the hometown of Jesus that will ask important questions about the role of faith and theology in conflicts such as that in Israel-Palestine. David Coffey, our BMS Global Ambassador, and Catalyst Live contributor Yohanna Kathanacho will be two of the speakers at this exciting new event.
“This is such an important conference,” says BMS General Director David Kerrigan. “Christians can have a really positive impact on situations of political conflict, but we need to engage with the issues and be willing to learn from people on the ground. Being involved with this peace conference is one way of doing that.
“I really hope that BMS supporters will get behind this and attend the event.”
Tony Peck, EBF General Secretary adds: "We are one with BMS World Mission in seeing this as an important conference to focus on the situation of the Palestinian minority, and especially the Christian minority, in Israel. There is an open Invitation for EBF leaders to participate in the Conference and in this way to show our support and solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Christ in Israel."
The conference will take place in Nazareth on 16 to 18 April 2015 and costs just £75, not including accommodation. For more details and a summary of the two-day programme click here.
“Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.” Matthew 5: 9
Please pray for the situation in Israel-Palestine and for the Nazareth Evangelical College’s first conference – that Christians will find ways to be peacemakers in situations where peace seems very far away.
